China parcel consolidation: buying agents, shipping weight and forwarders
Understand China parcel consolidation, actual versus volumetric weight, packaging choices and delivery to your own forwarder before approving an international shipping quote.

Buying assistance or forwarding only?
A buying agent helps purchase from the Chinese seller. Forwarding focuses on receiving, organizing and transporting goods. With a ChinaCarty purchasing request, discuss consolidation and onward shipping when requesting a quote. If you already bought the goods yourself, contact us first to confirm acceptance, the receiving address, product attributes and fees. Do not send goods to a warehouse without that agreement.
Match each parcel to the order
Provide an item list, quantities, seller or order details and domestic tracking numbers. Identify items that should travel together and any retail packaging you want retained. Goods are checked for quantity, confirmed options and obvious exterior damage before an agreed consolidation plan. Review the warehouse check results before international dispatch; ChinaCarty does not handle returns.
Actual weight is only part of the calculation
A route may charge using the higher of actual and volumetric weight, under that route's own rules. As an illustration only, if a route uses length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000, a 40 × 30 × 30 cm box has a volumetric weight of 6 kg. Even with an actual weight of 4 kg, it could be charged at 6 kg. The divisor 6000 is an example, not a universal rule; minimum billing increments, rounding and surcharges also need confirmation.
Consolidation does not always mean a saving
Removing duplicate outer packaging can reduce volume, but fragile-item protection, incompatible goods and route restrictions can change the plan. Avoid removing necessary protection simply to reduce size. Keeping shoe boxes or retail packaging, or adding reinforcement, can change both volume and cost. Compare quotes using the final packed dimensions and weight rather than assuming fewer parcels are always cheaper.
What to check in the second-stage quote
Confirm destination city and postcode, number of parcels, product attributes, actual weight, dimensions, chargeable weight, route and any surcharges. There is no second-stage service fee, but international shipping, agreed optional services and possible destination taxes should be distinguished. Disclose batteries, liquids and other special attributes in advance: availability from a Chinese seller does not mean every international route accepts the item.
Nominating a forwarder or requesting a courier
For your own freight forwarder, supply the confirmed receiving address, contact, shipping mark or warehouse reference. Agree domestic delivery charges, packaging and handover requirements first. For transport arranged through ChinaCarty, ask for the actually available courier or other routes for the product and destination. Confirm responsibility at handover, insurance and the claims process before dispatch. Delivery to a forwarder's warehouse is not delivery to the overseas recipient.

Frequently asked questions
Can you guarantee the cheapest or fastest shipping?
No. Eligibility depends on the goods, parcel size, destination and available routes. Compare costs and estimated timing using the actual parcel. An estimated transit time is not a guaranteed delivery date.
Where should I put my consolidation instructions?
Include the destination, packing to retain, consolidation needs and nominated forwarder details in the inquiry form. Confirm receiving and shipping arrangements first for self-purchased goods or items with special attributes.
